Party: KYC Fleet Captain's Race

The Fleet Captain's Race, Saturday, Aug 13 2016, 1 pm start

For those who are new to the club (or just haven't tried this race before) ....

This is a FUN race - anyone can sail, and anyone can win !
The rules are course are simple.

Everyone starts out from "Green 3", (just outside the anchorage), and sails off towards "Green 1" (the channel mark about 1.5 miles out). Round the mark to port, and head (more or less) in the direction of Staten Island. There's a mark out there, but most of you will never see it.

Because the FIRST (and usually only) boat to get to that mark, and round it, calls back on the radio. (once upon a time, a shotgun was fired, so it's called the "BANG" mark). Everyone may then turn around where they are, sail back around "Green 1", and return to "Green 3".

A bottle of champagne is awarded to the "bang" boat, and to the first boat back in the anchorage. And BOTH boats get their name on the trophy in the case - it's the BIG CLEAT on the bottom shelf. And there's a dock party after the race!
