Crooked Highway is Pete Cummins second solo album since 2009’s “ The Brilliant Architect”. The former Fleadh Cowboy has recorded with Townes Van Zandt ,The Chieftains, Donovan and Nanci Griffith on her Grammy winning record “Other Voices,Other Rooms.” Crooked Highway was recorded mostly at Pete’s home studio with Pete playing all instruments himself. Additional over dubs and mixing was done at Sonic Studio Dublin, Guest musicians include Percy Robinson on pedal steel guitar, Brian Harris and Gerry Hendrix on guitar, Robbie Casserly, Kevin Nolan and Al Cowan on drums Crooked Highway features 9 of Pete’s original songs and also a cover of Lisa O Neill’s song “No Train to Cavan” . “Distant Starlight”, the opening track is a song Pete wrote for The Lost Brothers which they have recorded but have not yet released. “Sacred Ground” is a song dedicated to the memory of Pete’s friend journalist Eugene Moloney who was senselessly murdered in Dublin in 2012. “Mrs Blooms Girls“ and “The Harder the Rain” are both commentaries on the effects of the economic collapse of The Celtic Tiger. “No Profanity under the Roof” was inspired by a conversation with Townes Van Zandt.
