RJ Maxwell, Electro Disco [Chessboard Records] (Calgary, AB).

Hailing from Calgary, AB, RJ Maxwell has been producing music for over 10 years. After some of his productions caught the ear of the Motion Notion renegade stages, RJ was asked to play his first DJ set at the Philthy stage in 2016.

Since 2016, RJ Maxwell has played the Famstival main stage, Reign Bough Fiddle Music & Arts Festival, rocked several party venues around Calgary, and most recently smashed the dance floor of Calgary's legendary Habitat Living Sound.

The sound of RJ Maxwell's original productions is often described as high-energy electro-disco blended with a variety of tech house, classic house, and even techno in live sets, creating an intriguing and booty-shakin' journey for partygoers.

Originally from Toronto, Showboy's blend of speaker-humpin', booty-shakin', deep, dirty, grimy, funky, fidgety, disco-driven house has rocked the party since relocating west in 2003. He regularly plays across North America, and is a Guest Resident at many Chicago, San Francisco and Toronto venues.

His Edmonton residencies have included Buddys, The Roost, Boots, Prism, New City, Play, Flash & Gin Joint, and he continues to play bars, clubs, special events, private & corporate parties. His headlining tours have included:

He has appeared with/opened for/written for Florence Welch, Kaskade, Deadmau5, Morgan Page, Myles Dyson, Chocolate Puma, Sarah McLachlan, Metric, Scotty Thompson, Jann Arden, Tracy Young, Deko-ze, Thunderpuss, Tony Moran, Tianna J, Kasha Kennedy and Deborah Cox, to name a few.

In 2015 he worked with famed lifestyle brand KidRobot and in 2016, a collaboration with Edmonton-based SNUG Underwear resulted in producing their runway mix for West Coast Fashion Week and a line of #SHOWBOY underwear!

He has been nominated for a 2015 Juno Award and 2 Grammy Awards in 2016, all for writing, remixing & production.
