This is a fictitious love story loosely inspired by the lives of Danish artists Lili Elbe and Gerda Wegener. The film stars Eddie Redmayne as Lili Elbe, one of the first recipients of sex change surgery, in the 1930’s. For her performance as Gerda, Alicia Vikander won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. This tender portrait of a marriage shows how Lili and Gerda's relationship and work evolved as they navigated Lili's journey as a transgender pioneer.
Film Club members free. Non-members pay a £2.50 nightly membership fee at the door. Doors open at 8.00pm.
