The Bunters are coming back to Bangalow Bowlo this Saturday night. After twenty five years,The Cyril B Bunter Band, (photo from the old days) remember the venue as one of the best venues they have ever played at. Jimi from the band says "It was a complete blast, the place was packed and then after the gig everyone went up to the main street of town and kept partying. I can't wait to come back 25 years later.
Let's not let The Bunters down - turn up with your dancing shoes and get ready for a great night. The band has just recently played at Lizottes, even better than they were 25 years ago!
Here is their bio if you have not heard of them before. Between 1972 and 1985, Sydney’s legendary The Cyril B. Bunter Band toured ceaselessly, earning a reputation for good-time, soul-satisfying blues-infused boogie.
They racked up seven major tours opening shows for John Mayall and Canned Heat. The band became fast friends with George Thorogood during three tours together, culminating in George recording The Bunters’ song “Boogie People” as the title track of his 1985 album.
Concurrently, The Bunters played countless shows backing Melbourne’s Dutch Tilders, and in between headlined their own roadshows, spreading their gospel of The Good Boogie before disbanding in 1985.
Then in 2013, The Bunters were invited to reunite for the Thredbo Blues Festival. Audience responses were so overwhelmingly positive that the band re-released their 70s-80s recordings on CD and embarked on their 41st Anniversary Reunion Tour, thrilling fans old and new at the Great Southern Blues Festival, Sydney Blues and Roots Festival, Patonga Blues Fest and a succession of full-house club gigs climaxing with a memorable Sydney Basement show.
And now in 2015, The Bunters, their powers undiminished, continue to tour. Three founding members plus the great Ali Penney on keyboards are delivering The Good Boogie even further afield. The band’s current CD “THE GOOD BOOGIE LIVE!” compiled from shows on last year’s tour, garnered universally positive reviews and reached #4 on the ABARAC Blues chart. Their live shows have been described by those in the know as “even better than the first time around”!
