Party: BC Swing Dance Club October Dance

"Dance is the only art of which we ourselves are the stuff of which it is made."

Join us Saturday October 14 for the next BC Swing Club Dance lesson and dance.

Pamela Podmoroff will be teaching a Shag workshop. The Carolina Shag is the swing dance of the south. It's said to have originated during the late 30s on the shores of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Danced primarily to beach music, its a lovely dance with the main focus on intricate syncopations and fancy footwork. The Shag has influenced and helped create much of the cool west coast swing footwork we see on the dance floor these days. And it's a must for dancers to learn cause it's not only a cool dance, it's a mesmerizing experience for a swing dancer to dance with a Shagger!!!

Pamela Podmoroff is a successful top level West Coast Swing competitive dancer. Her full time teaching, over 14 years, includes a variety of partner dances and lots of wedding choreography. She began dance at 2 and a half in kelowna BC and has a technical background in ballet, jazz, tap and modern. Pamela experienced the true Carolina Shag lifestyle by attending SOS Fall migration in Myrtle Beach last September. This isn't the first time she's hoping to inspire dancers on the west coast to gain an interest in it. The Carolina Shag is an amazing and fun dance thats guaranteed to improve your west coast swing footwork!

Michael and Amy Shibasaki will be teaching the free beginnger class. Their story began in 2008 when they met at a west coast swing dance and decided to become practice partners to improve their dancing. Along the way, Michael and Amy fell in love and got married. Now they want to share our love of the dance with you – by offering you a friendly, relaxed learning environment to get you comfortable enough to have lots of fun on the dance floor. Both currently compete several times a year (at Advanced and Intermediate level) and continuously look to upgrade and hone their teaching and dance skills.
